About Freiburg

Freiburg im Breisgau is a city in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, on the western edge oft the Black Forest with a population of more than 200 000 inhabitants, among them 30.000 students. The city is well known as a centre of academia and research and houses one of the oldest and most renowned German universities, the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg.

Unique cultural treasures and an exciting history are to be found in the city of knowledge and inspiration. But still Freiburg has retained its small-town charm. Freiburg has many historical attractions. The most famous are: Cathedral, Historic Merchants' Hall, University, Colombi Palace, "Freiburger Bächle", a system of streamlets running throughout the old town.
